South Africa captain Laura Wolvaardt has once again climbed to the summit of the international game, reclaiming the No. 1 spot in the latest ICC women’s ODI batting rankings. Wolvaardt’s return to the top comes at the expense of India captain Smriti Mandhana, who has slipped to second position following a comparatively quiet start to her team’s ongoing home series against Zimbabwe in Vadodara.

This latest shift marks the ninth separate occasion that Wolvaardt has claimed the coveted No. 1 position in one-day international cricket. Her journey to the top of the batting charts first began back in March 2022, and her latest return represents her first stint at the summit since November 2025. The South African stalwart continues to demonstrate remarkable consistency at the international level, anchoring her national side’s top order and solidifying her reputation as one of the premier batters in the modern era of women’s cricket.

For Mandhana, the drop to second place follows an uncharacteristically modest outing in the opening two matches of the home ODI series against Zimbabwe, where she managed scores of 32 and 0 in Vadodara. Despite the India captain losing her grip on the top spot, the series has provided a fertile ground for several of her teammates to make substantial upward strides across the batting, bowling, and all-rounder categories.

Chief among the beneficiaries of India’s recent fixtures is all-rounder Deepti Sharma, who delivered a series of stellar individual performances. Sharma put on a remarkable display of all-around prowess, capturing five wickets across the first two matches against Zimbabwe while also anchoring the innings with a brilliant 106 runs off 86 deliveries in the second ODI. Her heavy contributions with both bat and ball saw her climb four places to 23rd among ODI batters. Simultaneously, she advanced one spot to eighth in the bowling rankings and rose two places to fourth in the highly competitive all-rounders’ standings.

Harmanpreet Kaur also enhanced her standing in the batting department. The experienced India batter played a commanding innings of 126 runs off 121 balls during the second ODI, a performance that propelled her upward by two places to eighth in the global batting rankings.

Meanwhile, Pratika Rawal continued her ascent through the international ranks, reaching a career-best 21st position in the ODI batting charts. Rawal jumped seven places following a phenomenal start to the series, which included her third career ODI century—a composed 100 runs off 96 balls in the opening match—followed by a brisk 61 off 67 deliveries in the second encounter. Her current rating of 598 points marks a new personal high for the rising batter.

Further down the order, Shafali Verma climbed 15 places to 73rd among ODI batters, reflecting the depth of India’s batting talent currently on display. In the bowling department, Kranti Gaud capitalized on her opportunity by claiming 3 wickets for 43 runs in the opening match against Zimbabwe. That impactful spell helped Gaud move up two places to 25th in the bowling rankings, while also securing a three-place rise to 33rd among all-rounders.

The ripples of recent international fixtures extended beyond the ODI format into the T20I rankings, following India’s dominant 3-0 series sweep against Zimbabwe. In the women’s T20I batting list, Shafali Verma advanced one place to third overall, while Smriti Mandhana also gained a position to move up to fourth, maintaining a strong Indian presence at the upper end of the shortest format’s rankings.

Attention also shifted to the international stage in the Southern Hemisphere, where Australia and New Zealand recently contested a high-profile T20I series. Australia emerged victorious with a 2-0 series win over New Zealand in North Sydney, though the final match of the rubber was unfortunately washed out due to adverse weather conditions.

Australian players capitalized on their strong performances during the series to make significant gains in the ICC tables. Ashleigh Gardner delivered a player-of-the-match caliber performance in the second fixture, smashing 84 runs off just 45 balls to help Australia secure a comfortable 40-run victory. That explosive innings propelled Gardner up nine places to 19th among T20I batters.

In the bowling department for Australia, Georgia Wareham turned in a devastating spell of 3 for 18, a performance that lifted her four places to a joint-seventh ranking among international bowlers. Teammate Kim Garth also made a welcome return to the top ten in the T20I bowling charts, jumping five places to joint-tenth following disciplined spells that troubled the New Zealand batting lineup.

New Zealand, despite the series loss, saw contributions from their bowling attack recognized in the updated rankings. Bowlers Bree Illing and Nensi Patel both improved their standing, each climbing six places to reach 17th and 29th positions respectively, as the global women’s cricket calendar continues to produce competitive movement across all major formats.
